The lanky Scottish Deerhound who was the surprise Best in Show winner at Westminster Dog Show now has a litter of puppies ready to trot in her footsteps after retiring from the ring.
The five-year-old champion, known as Ch Foxcliffe Hickory Wind, made history as the first of her breed to win the competition in February – and now tails are wagging for her adorable first litter of nine.
Playing with the seven-week-old pups on a 50-acre farm in Flint Hill, Virginia, Hickory is already giving her brood lessons in how to become top dog.
Sighthound puppies are very cute. Awwww…..
Dani sends along the latest photo of Amica and Jaxx in Santa Cruz. They’re napping.
Whippets in Bed
Benjamin and Amica 6 years ago.
Jason doesn’t want to get up this morning. He heard it was cold out.
Benjamin misses his brother Whylie who moved to Colorado. Good thing Whylie is keeping it warm.
Mama Gika would be so proud.
It’s a whippet. I don’t know who to credit for the photo, but Matthew sent along the link. Thank you Matthew, I think.
So who’s going to geek out for us and tell us what this (unhappy) whippet is dressed up like and from what movie?
Roland came by and took some pictures at the nursery of me and the whippets. Here’s one of Jason.
Those eyes! It’s like the follow me wherever I go!
Jason enjoys some late September heat.
Now that’s whippet blogging for you.
Whippets under the covers
Whippet wants to play.
This is my whippet named Jason. He likes toy sharks, as do all whippets named Jason.
Benjamin snuck in behind a shot of the California Morning Glory. He’s a bit out of focus.
Last week there were 4 whippets in the nursery.
Here’s three in a row!
And here’s Benjamin on the other side.
And then it occurred to me I could move one over and have all 4 in one row. Spectacular!
Can you believe they were still long enough for the photo?
Jason in the succulents.
Two whippets on one small dog bed? Inconceivable!
Amica naps through the Red Sox game. New pitchers on the team! Many good hitters! Amica doesn’t care.
Jaxx is the only whippet I know who likes to sleep on gravel.
Jaxx is visiting, which means we have three whippets here. And when I went to get a cup of coffee I noticed that all three dogs are staking out separate rooms for themselves.
I see Jaxx is in the dog bed in the living room.
Benjamin is in the guest bedroom, as if we had a whippet guest over, which we do.
And Jason has staked out Jaxx’ dog bed in the master bedroom.
Whippets for everyone!
From 2004, when the whippet Benjamin was but a puppy.
